Granny's gone and done it again

Shortstack was still an egg! :barnie I tapped and it was silent. Tapped and tapped, and nothing. Finally looked at the air hole I made, and I could see movement. Candled to see the AC, to start a zip, and the whole egg is full. So I started picking shell away, Shortstack is peeping. I can't find any space, and can't find the beak. I get some blood, so I go in a different direction. Get a bit more blood, still no beak or head. Finally I peel the membrane where I made the air hole, and there's the egg tooth. I pipped EXACTLY where he would've.

Pretty sure it's a malpo, and probably a pullet egg. It was hard as a rock. He never bled, but there were veins. I want to look for yolk but didn't. Put him back just like that. So, we'll see what happens. I don't want to rush in case there's yolk. If he can't hatch from that, it wasn't meant to be. :fl

Got an egg from each of the new girls today. Leghorns lay a nice big egg!

Oh my he's a slowpoke! And those eggs look huge!

One of my neighbours is 93; he still lives in his own house entirely unassisted, drives a car, and raises quail and chickens.

Not sure how old my neighbor is, late 80s. He sold off all his cows, within a few months bought a whole new herd because he was bored. :lau
Gotta have something to stay busy with or the reason to get up each day gets cloudy.

Camp, ask on Sallys . I have found they wont finish that hatch unless the head and neck are cleared . Not sure Im saying it right. take the shell away from the head. It dont look like a mal po to me and as far as I can tell is ready. Once you start a hatch you need to finish and he cant free his head unless broody does it.

My Gma is 90...she just had her new carpet pu in part of her house and new wood floors in the rest...

I pick at her..."why the heck do you want NEW stuff NOW?'

My grandpa has been gone about 6-7 years. Donny would tell a story then say "and I still miss him." I couldn't say anything helpful because I kept choking up. Donny's memory is going fast. She kept asking me if I was the oldest grand kid or not. I finally told her I was oldest AND best. She accepted that.

Where did granny run off to? Hope I didn't hurt your feelings hun over the Tolbunt eggs. I know it's devastating each time a hatch goes bad. I've had a bunch myself, it isn't very fun for sure.

I'll go check him in a couple hours. I can pick a bit more from around his head, but finding veins made me nervous.
