Quote: You don't really need to get to the wood unless you are talking about red mites. You can spray a perimeter around the lowest part of the walls so they can't crawl up, but I think it
s the bedding they will be in most. Spray where you see them and mix it into the bedding. Not good for the chickens to walk or sit where the spray is still wet. If you have Sevin dust, you can sprinkle some of that around in the bedding, but I sure don't like to use that too much. DE, if you have some, will also make life harder for mites.
If you keep up with the Ivermectin, the mites die when they bite the bird. When the eggs hatch, the new mites need to feed before they can lay more eggs. If your birds are treated, mites will never get to the laying stage. I would probably do a third treatment, just to be sure.

I hae been told I wont be able to breath the spray. I have tons of ivermectin. I still need those bales out though so they will go back to their nest box. How many bales do you have? Just straw? Why not break them open and let the chickens spread it around? It will break down soon enough.

the eggs were sticky, nasty and lots of ants down there.
Nothing fancy. Not even going home. Probably the first Easter I've spent away... No, the second. The one year we lived in Arkansas we didn't travel for any holidays.
