and I am getting my hairs cut on the 31 of this month.

Wow, that's really planning ahead!

Jaguars and leopards can be hard to tell apart, but leopards are from Africa and jaguars are from the Americas and easier for a small zoo in the US to get.  I saw a black jaguar and you could still see the pattern of the spots. 

I take it back...  that's a pretty big zoo.  Although no elephants...   I would have been bumming with Bubba.  Could watch them all day. 

I think they've really maximized their space. Louisiana exhibit is multi-level. No apes, no elephants, rhinos, or giraffes. They have lots of reptiles: snakes, turtles, crocs, gators, caimans. Lots of fish (we didn't see today). Lots of "native" birds, then parrots and raptors. There is a raccoon exhibit.

They have cougars, bobcats, tigers, African lions, and smaller servals, ocelots, etc. Regular zoo stuff.

It's a small zoo, but pretty nice. They're constantly renovating. Lots of empty habitats today. Fun facts!


1.) I grew up in Natchitoches and used to take field trips to the exact same zoo. In fact I first remember going at bubba's age. The lion roared then sprayed at the kids. I hid in a shrub.


2.) it's considered haunted and was investigated on the show Ghost Hunters


3.) DH's godparents gave us a membership two years ago for Christmas. One of my fav gifts ever.

Life time member ?  haunted how ?  cool...

Just a yearly membership. It's expired by now.

The previous owner did a lot of work at the zoo and loved it very much. He died unexpectedly a few years ago and is believed to have stuck around. They have a nice statue of him now in the festival plaza.

My father decided he would do "down there" and sucked his eggs up and took some skin. hahahaa

Finally caught up, man granny you have the craziest things happen to you. Very sad Shadow is not well. That's the one that always wants to get on me & rub agains my head right?
