It means his autism is not severe.We'll see how tomorrow goes. The other boy's mom packed extra food just in case, and the girl isn't as picky. I'm hoping as he warms up and gets into a routine he'll do better.
Two years ago the returning boy had a fit at the pool (he didn't want to get out) and two staff had to put him in a restraining hold until he calmed down, because he was going to hurt himself or someone else. So far this year he's doing great and even went back to his seat when I told him there was 5 minutes til supper, and to please sit back down.
They say the boy who won't eat is "mildly" autistic. I'm not sure what that means exactly. I do know that he pretty much shut down when he realized the lack of eating might cause him to go home. BUT he had eaten candy at the pool and ruined his appetite. That's why he gets pb/j at the pool now. We won't be charging him for that, either.
