Granny's gone and done it again

I used to know all the flowers. what they liked and didnt. I dont know too much of anything any more.
I don't know that much about them... have to look everything up.
I do know something about botany, though, and how the plants work and how they are organized into families and such and so forth. I took a class on identifying wildflowers. The key just for CA is like 2000 pages. Lot of plants!

guess I should say the flowers that grew in my neck of the woods. They have a class here to become a master gardener. I so wanted to go when I first moved here. I cant even put a shovel in the ground now.

Lady up the street from here is a master gardener. She said most of it was memorizing the scientific names and details and planting requirements. She has stuff planted all over her place. They did a garden tour several years back.and we got to snoop around in her backyard.

we have garden tours here. I have never went. Would like to but dont want to go alone. If thats all it is then I am glad I didnt waste the money.

I have a ton of garden books. There is one big beautiful one that has just about every cultivated flower there is. It's huge. Last time I looked at it was with mom when she was at chemo appt. Long before that she also came with me on one of the wildflower field trips, which was great, because the rest of the class was camping, but mom and I stayed in a motel! haha! This was in college. I didn't have any camping gear.

the older you get the less appealing camping in the great outdoors is. LOL I used to love it but it has been years. I kinda feel like I live at a camp site now except I have a comfy bed. I can build fires, what ever..
I used to have tons of great garden books too. My go to favorite was readers digest ! I may still have them , not sure but I studied that book for years and it was a great reference too. That and my nursing books.

The Sunset Western Garden Book is kind of like the plant bible for out here. I have 2 of them! Left my old one outside once, and puppy Belle thought it was a chew toy! Most of it's still good, but hubs got me a new one for my b-day. Of course I kept the old one.
