I know right. Yes I have to send in a dna sample with the registeration papers and depending on parentage depends on type of registeration I get, BO or B1 OR B2 or foundation. Foundation is what you really want.

Can you translate from Yak-ese into English? What does it all mean?

sure you betcha don't ya know

BO= both parents unknown BUT full blooded yak BOTH Star and Comet are these

B1 = One parent known for only 1 generation
Hailey and Nostril are these as Porter is a Foundation

B2 = one parent know for only 2 generations and the other multiple generations Should you breed a B1 to a Foundation you get a b2. aka Hailey bred to Porter

Foundation = full blooded yak multiple generations known OR the animal in question was registered before a cut off date in IYAK 19 is foundation with no know parents

All the rest of my yaks are foundation. Star and Comet's calves will always be B1 at least at my place.
