If you can find some soye cusppa it will enriche the level of protein in the feed, it is 44% protein! I use it to bust my chicks feed.I was talking about the feed.
We can take them to the feed store and if they have room, will take them for a few bucks and sell them for a bit more, depending on breed and size. People will buy them for the table. Mostly people give them away, especially in late summer.
You are feeding all flock mostly? 20% protein? Ok, here's the scoop on that... Layer feed is always at 15-16% protein, because that is the optimal diet for a laying hen. A higher percentage protein throws off the balance for them. If they were out ranging, they could naturally balance the extra protein by eating grass. Higher protein is good for growing birds, but not so much for layers.
Corn is high calorie compared to oats, and makes them fat. Fatty liver disease is a common cause of death when otherwise healthy birds die around 1-2 yrs of age. If you could find oats or another whole grain cheap (wheat, barley) and use that to cut your flock raiser, it would help. Otherwise, I would switch to layer feed for most. Only worry about the extra calcium babies and for the Serama roosters, but I had one eating it for a few years with no ill effect.
that looks Nothing like I have been looking for. LOLOL Maybe my co-op will have it? BUT what is the difference between that and corn ? I really need to cut my bill down.
Bushel?oats is lower in calories and doesn't make the hens "burn as hot" and a couple bucks for a bushel. Which for feed oats is around 38 to 42 pounds a bushel.
Eating them won't get me any more money back. Most of them are small birds. Might get a sandwich full of leathery Leghorn meat, that's it.Bubbles
Alot of them will eat them...
And it is YOUR MONEY LOST if YOU DON'T COVER YOUR EXPENSES!
Why is extra protein bad?I was talking about the feed.

35 liters!Bushel?
Try a independent feed store. They might carry more local stuff... cheaper, not name brand.I dont want anymore dumore brands. I havent had anything but bad luck with that. Im not sure what brand Orshelins sells but its only 40lb bags so not the deal you think your getting.
What she said!Granny you don't have a mom n pop feed store around there?
They may have a cheaper brand of complete chicken feed.
Name brands don't always mean they are better.
Let me know when you are coming!!!It is funny ! I just said a few days ago to DW that it is tickling me to see the US again! I think it is because all this BYC things. ..
And yes it sounds terrific!
This was one of my loved Israeli singer, singing on San Francisco!
You really don't like lobsters, do you? You're getting robbed on that lobster price...
Jane, hubs and I have been discussing that lately regarding this place, and it's a small fraction of what you've got. Not going to get any easier, is it?I mowed for an hour. Hot as heck. Watered chickens. Gotta feed 2 pens & 1 dog after I sit in front of fan to cool off. This place is too much for 1 person to handle. DD keeps saying she will mow but it ain't happened yet.
Gaut and renal problem.Eating them won't get me any more money back. Most of them are small birds. Might get a sandwich full of leathery Leghorn meat, that's it.
Usually I don't sell young birds. They stay until they're done laying. I just sold these few because I have too many birds for my coop.
I didn't end up selling them to that person. Was sorta funny... The lady came for them and it ended up being the police officer for the next town over. She paid more than I asked for, so I was happy.

The Rugrats have hermit crabs. I think they're creepy. We have an agreement.... They take care of them, I let them stay. Agreement null and void if them crabs end up in my bed as a prank. You really don't like lobsters, do you?
I have a friend who won't get near crab. She has a spider phobia, and says they look too much like spiders.
