I have heaters. Not a problem, electric in one coop and an extention cord to the other also not a problem. Draining that hose is a big problem and spending too much time out there is too. Would love to have water supply that will last a few days without needing refilled .

You would need a large enough waterer that you could have the lid off without it emptying the waterer on the ground. Then a bird bath heater or something similar to keep the container from freezing.

I have a 5 gal waterer in the "big" pen and it lasts 2-3 days IF they don't try to make puddles. Another pen has a feed bowl because they broke the base to the plastic waterer. The fatties. I've just about gave up.

The problem is not heating the water, it is getting it to the coop that is the problem. Could you put it in a wagon to pull it up there or drive the car?
no pulling a wagon would be worse then draining a hose. I honestly need that hand pump next to the coop. would be perfect.

How the heck would you hand pump water?

What about a water barrel with a heater in the coop? And once a week fill it up with the hose? Would horizontal nipples freeze with the heater? Idk  I've been making at least 6-7 trips in the morning for chicken chores. They are about a 100 or so feet from the house. I'd rather have a barrel with a heater in the winter lol I hate the extra trips throughout the day for water
