Caught up. I know we got at least 200 animals adopted out yesterday at the shelter, but haven't checked the final number yet. Everything from dogs and cats to hamsters and parakeets. I stayed later than planned because we were so busy. that's a very good thing, but I am still tuckered out. Taking it easy today. Got mountains of laundry to fold and put away anyhow.

Texted with the lady in CO that bought my last 4 chicks. He DH needs to see his dentist up there next week before they can come home and claim her birds. Said she still wants them.

That red EE cockerel was acting like a cock this morning, bowing up, puffing out his chest, making those sparring leaps at some of the others. He's still sweet towards me, likes to perch near me. If he acts right, and the collar works later, he can stay. If not, dinner or freezer camp. He sure is pretty.

Today IS going to be a lovely day for us ALL! It is!
That's wonderful adopting out that many critters. Must have been a busy day!

Yes when I went they had trouble with mine because I am so old.
OR was it because of your secret identity... hmm??

 You don't drink coffee!? I'd have to sleep for 3 days straight to get a good night sleep....

He was a secret agent back in the day.

lol I should have known but  I need caffeine :lau
I don't drink coffee either. Is it really THAT GOOD? I think is smells like fireplace ashes and sometimes skunk.

Morning Twist! How cups have you had?

Picked over 5 gallons of cukes again yesterday. Made up another 4 quarts of cuke salad and in the fridge will keep WAY past Christmas. The tuffest part is peeling and slicing 8 cups of cukes needed per batch. But that way I can be a little picky and the chickens benefit as well.

Not sure about other shelters, rescue groups, etc. but all the Arlington and DFW municipalities that participate DO do everything the same, it's just "FREE" or "waived" adoption fees. Heart worm positive pets also still have the contract on getting them treatment (which might be free or very low cost due to donors and subsidies provided by other groups) and the neuter/spay contract (again, often funded or subsidized by other groups). It's not hard to qualify.

I drink it black, creamed, & iced. Maybe you haven't found the right one? I'm worried where you smelled skunk coffee at lol

Recipe as follows

8 cups peeled and sliced cukes
1 cup sliced onion
1 cup sliced pepper any color

salt with 1 and 1/2 Tablespoons salt, let sit for 1/2 hour

Drain and rinse

BRINE: make while the above is wilting/giving up juice
2 cups sugar
1 cup vinegar
1 teaspoon whole mustard seed
1 teaspoon celery seed
DO NOT boil. Brine with be sludgie/syrupy

Mix all together and then pack med firmly into jars or a container with cover and stick in fridge. I suggest letting it all getting to know each other before eating so at least over night.

Yield about 2 quarts.

NOTE:: if you toss the salt and stuff with your hands you will soon know of any nicks in fingers and hands.

ALL the veggies I used were home grown. :celebrate
