I have, that's why I like meat in mine now. Fortunately hubs normally takes a deer each year & we make most into burger.

I thought about gtting some of those 3 buck hens just to butcher.. If they are too old they may not be fit to eat.

First couple years hubs & I were married we survived on macaroni & canned tomatoes or rice & canned tomatoes. Never had much when the kids were little either. Pasta & rice are very much a staple on our budget then & now.

This is going to drive me crazy. I cant cook every day much less a couple times a day. I need convenience food. It just isnt going to work without it
