Granny's gone and done it again

Ain't suppose to kill them here, and I'd hate it but he's not settling here if I can help it
We shoot anything that goes after livestock. We’ve lost many calves from buzzards. They will land and stalk the mother all day. We lost a set of twins and a single calf one spring. After that I was done. Didn’t care what animal it was, if it went after mine it’s days were numbered.

You go girl. Exact what you have to do if you want to stay ahead in the game.

I am with you. Took out a whole family of foxes and all sorts of assorted varmints in my days in TN.

Lauren broke an egg this am in her excitement of collecting eggs I threw it out 2 black birds seized it immediately that's why I'm surprised the hawk was so brave . He flew right over my head close enough I could hear the wind in his wings. He's not afraid of me I'm gonna change that tomorrow.

We had one that’d sit in the neighbors tree across the fence because it knew we couldn’t shoot it there. They are smart creatures.

Spent the afternoon canning some chunky, cinnamon applesauce. Got 6-3/4 qrts & 6 pints. My granddaughter asked me if I would make her some this year. Last year we had a bad hail storm that damaged the local apple crops. What survived were extremely expensive so I didn't can any last year.

Wow have I got a load of catching up to do.

In random news, my cousins' wife hatched. Sweet little baby boy. My dad and sibling have been sending me pics. Absolutely darling.

On the other side of the family, my aunt is home from the hospital. (Had a gnarly surgery thanks to cancer) surgeons are hopeful they got it all but recoup is going to be long and painful. My mom's gone down to take care of her, since her hubs has to get back to work.

Minding a friends' place while theyre gone for a week (aka feeding chickens and feeding cat...though cats have multiplied and there's kittens now too oi!)

Ants found the cat food. Waiting for hubs to come home and help me spray/do what needs doing. I'm not sure what to do since they're in the food. I can spray around the food and their suspected entry point but can't spray the food. May see about sticky traps? I dunno.
