Granny's gone and done it again

I honestly don't mind cleaning chickens, If it's just Rod, Robert and myself they pluck and I help and I do all the gutting. Otherwise I spend to much time waiting. IF when can talk another person into helping then I don't have to pluck.

You are so right, we are in the area where 30-40 mile an hour winds are the norm. We dont take cover until they reach 50 to 60 mile an hour. Plus we live in a valley & all the snow is dumped on my roof.

you need a Steeper Roof. ;)

Well we are spoiled, if we have lots we have access to borrow a scalder & plucker, way easier. If I do it the hard way I just skin them, remove the breast, leg & thighs & the rest feed the animals.

Digging taters and onions tomorrow then will go out thursday and bag/sack them up.
I got a box full of the mesh laundry bags at an auction. I prefer them as not as big thus not as heavy as a burlap tater sack.

We/I set up the cast iron lard kettle and use that for the hot tub. Then all the cleanings go back into it when done and add some oats let the fire burn down and feed it back to the hens.

Unfortunately our home was added onto on both sides when the previous owner was injured in an auto accident & paralyzed. We have so many valleys due to the add on. In fact the front middle section used to be a flat roof. When we shingled the house about 10 years ago we put a pitched roof on it, but with all the roof lines coming in its not a steep pitch.
