Hello! Another coldish morning here. (cold for Sonoma county). Everyone off to work and school, and chore time for me. Hug your loved ones and think happy thoughts. :hugs:love:highfive:

Its supposed to be an equal partnership , no bosses.
Yes indeed! Not every moment of every day will be equal... lots of give and take, but the respect and caring should be 100% all the time.

Came from Robert mostly . I will have to get him something special. Ideas ? :jumpy
I was going to say jerky, but Twist beat me to it. You could buy a lot, and hide some away to give as a Christmas present.

So it is a gloomy, drippy day. Trying to whip up some energy to get things done. Knees hurt from the fall over the dog the other day. Feeling old.
:hugs The dark cold days are getting harder to take.
Hope you find a better dr.

Okay. Income tax. Actually may be less than California believe it or not. (Depending on tax bracket perhaps but...)

Sales tax. Yep there’s gst (federal sales tax) of 5% on anything you buy (some goods are exempt - food is one, though prepared food is not) most provinces have pst on top of that which ranges. Some provinces (Ontario) have hst where they merge provincial and federal into one big one.

Does Canada have welfare. Yep. Unemployment insurance. Yep. All that good stuff. Food stamps - honestly not sure how that worked up there. Not the same as down here that’s for sure. No special ebt card. (Unless that’s changed. I honestly don’t know - I haven’t done grocery/retail up north since the college days)

Property tax. Yeah depending on where you were could range. Because my village was run by idiots for a time, my property taxes on my old house was stupid. (Especially when you considered what I got service wise) but meah. Joys of living in the middle of nowhere.

Doctor shortages. Yeah can be a thing. Especially in the boom time in Calgary it may be tricky finding a family doc. But there was always the option of walk in clinics in case of (Yes sometimes these would Involve a wait too) or hospitals. Didn’t have to worry about networks or any of that. Could go to any doc/clinic/etc you chose.
Actual time critical care yep they triage stuff. I’ve had family deal with the big c and care was pretty timely for radiation/chemo/surgeries if needed. May there be a wait for getting your knee replaced? Sure. Supply/demand. But there’s some networks down here that I’m sure would also make you wait.

Is that the income tax or sales tax? Do they have welfare and food stamps there?
Sales tax. They have family allowance to help families with children. Quebec pays resident women to have children, a one time payment. They do have a welfare system. I do not know about the current income tax. It has been a long time since we lived there. Left in '92.
