So in the winter of 1992 there was the storm of the century type storm!
We packed our stuff in the 2 vehicles, put a child in each one and headed South. That way it was impossible for them to fight as they normally did.
We drove until we were too tired to continue. Trying to make time before the storm caught up to us. We got a room and slept a bit. When we awoke it was snowing again. Hurriedly we assembled our stuff, buckled the kids in and off we went. It has been a long time and my memory is not what it was but it seems to me we went the mountain route to avoid the mess the highways were bound to be.
It seems to me we stopped only to buy food and gas, quick bathroom breaks and then back on the road! Luckily our children are good travelers. The storm at our heels, we pressed on.
At the end of our second very long day of driving, we pulled into my parents house at 2347 Fairfax Dr. E . Bradenton, FL . Look it up on Zillow, it is a really nice place.
It was exciting and traumatic. We sold all our lovely solid wood furniture and most of our stuff. All of the dogs, even Bob's Shih Tzu. Hubby was still trying to sell the house. It is hard when your house is the nicest one on the road because then it is also priced highest. He eventually sold it to someone for a bed and breakfast.
Continued....
Ps, the storm never did catch us, though it was close when we stopped to sleep. We drove from Head Jeddore NS to Bradenton FL. In TWO days. Hell of a drive!
