Well as urine ages, it becomes ammonia!PINKY-PURPLE POOP UPDATE!
It's okay if you skip this... I will not be having a quiz.
I have found one interesting thing about colored urates from an article about parrots. (The normally white part of the poop are the urates. It takes the place of urine in birds so they don't have to carry around all the water urine takes. Makes for easier flying.)

so IN PARROTS:
- red or brown urates are indicative of metal poisoning
- green or yellow urates or urine can be an indicator of liver disease or infection.
Some other obscure ebook discussing solid urine (urates) in reptiles mentions that adding some type of ammonia (a drop of strong liquor ammonia) to uric acid turns it a "magnificent purple tint." Uric acid is found in urates, so if there was also ammonia present, maybe that turned the white to purple. All those chemistry classes I took were long ago, so if anyone can figure out of this is relevant to why my chickens were pooping purple, please explain. Do tape worms release ammonia? maybe?
link to the ebook. Hahaaaa! It's hard enough to understand this stuff, but a book from 1872 adds a whole new layer of difficulty. It's called THE URINE AND ITS DERANGEMENTS.

Yes, Robert and worker just left with a list for me. Milk, chicken food and salt. LOLOLAre you all set with food for a few days?
Sometimes when they molt they quit laying for a while. My easter egger stopped laying for about a month give or take a couple days. She is now back to laying an egg a day. Does that seem normal?
so if I dont flush the toilet will clean itself ?Well as urine ages, it becomes ammonia!
Yes, for mammals, but chickens don't have urine. They have that white cap of urates instead, one component being uric acid. Not sure how is breaks down over time, but I have never seen purple before, so doubt it goes to ammonia.Well as urine ages, it becomes ammonia!
Now that's the way it's supposed to work!! Robert doing the shopping... love it!Yes, Robert and worker just left with a list for me. Milk, chicken food and salt. LOLOL
You still have to scrub and ammonia stinks.so if I dont flush the toilet will clean itself ?![]()
