I am thinking I will try the beans in the crock pot so I dont burn them but I have always made them on the stove and dont know how much water to use so they come out the same.

they are northern, I never soak them on the stove ?

I ALWAYS soak my beans over night and then rinse and cook in LOTS of water until almost tender , drain and then make the actual beans with everything else.

cover with about 5 inches of extra water and just leave on the counter over night. They will "swell" when wet

OMG I feel muches better NOW for the 1/2 to hour to put everything back.

I make soup beans. the "soup" being the best part. If I drained them all that would be gone. It comes out thickish
