You really need to treat the coop too.
A permethrin based spray will get ride of the mites from the coop.

The most significant difference between Northern Fowl Mites and Red Mites is that Northern Fowl Mites will spend their entire life on the chicken (they can only survive 10 days off a chicken). Treating the chickens and not the coop will never get rid of them.
