Granny's gone and done it again

Hi Pert. What's on the agenda for today?
I need to get layer pellets. Hate to buy feed when it's raining, though. Maybe I will just clear out the fridge... have some oldish bread too, and tide them over until tomorrow.
Just a day of leisure today. Probably should do something but as long as I have the opportunity, why not. So you use the pellets also. Works best for me. Thinking about getting some oyster shell. Been getting a few soft shell eggs the last few month. Hens are 5 years old now so I can't complain.

Hello everyone. I was so far behind I just read every other page to catch up. :) and my like button ain't working, kept sending me to another page to interrogate me.:idunno Twist, do you depend on a standard 5 wire barbed wire fence to hold them critters in?

UM some area's are 4 or 5 strand barbed wire, some areas are sucker rod attached to railroad ties, and some are the 16 ft cattle panels attached to railroad ties every 8 feet with top and bottom 2.8 boards. OH and tried the yearlings on electric fence last fall.

ALL work. Quite well.

2 and a half months? That's it? Amazing you grow your huge veggie garden.

Hi Pert. Twist used some stuff he found around there... called it sucker rod or something like that. I dunno.

wait, he wasn't married?

But it's a good poop, right? :)

Oh, that would be nice. Bandit would have a blast.

I should rephrase my answer, frost is normally out of the ground april/may, and then freezes again oct, nov, dec BUT the chance of frost on plants is april may and part of june and then again starting sept

I wish my hubby would be interested in chickens, or quail, or bunnies or guineas or goats or any animals at all. He does look at the birds that come to the bird feeder.
Guineas are so pretty!! I would love to have a few when we have more land! My dad doesn’t seem to be too interested in my mom’s chickens, but loves to watch the birds that come to the feeder, too.

I think my husband only likes the look of chickens, because he doesn’t like chicken meat or eggs :idunno And our son is afraid of chicks, but our daughter is fearless and wants to pet everything :gigshe will be 18 months in April. I think I know who will be helping me tend the flock when she’s a little older ;)
