A Winter Storm Warning is Issued on the First Day of Spring
March 20, 2018
It turns out that the groundhog was pretty much right on last month.
Even though today is the first day of spring, a Winter Weather Advisory and more recently, a Winter Storm Warning are officially in effect from 8PM tonight (Tuesday) until 2PM Wednesday, March 21st, 2018.
According to the National Weather Service, what’s expected is accumulating snow on Tuesday evening through Wednesday and rain is expected to changeover to snow this afternoon and evening across the entire WKM Viewing Area.
We are talking slick and slushy snow.
Accumulations of 4 to 6 inches are expected by Wednesday and higher amounts are indeed possible for portions of Southern and Southeast Indiana and North Central Kentucky, especially in Jefferson, Scott, Floyd, Clark and Washington Counties.
The snow will be heavy and downed trees and power lines are possible.
