No hubs. I’ve been feeling poopy and they needed some time to flap their wings. No I didn’t rake out their run they’re just going to scratch it up anyway!! Gahhh.

Here I was hoping that absense would make the heart grow fonder but he’s being a salty (female dog) again. Ugh. His moodiness of late is really driving me bonkers. I have the feeling when he gets back I’m gonna say here I’m booking us into marriage councelling cause Dangit we need it right meow.

Y’all brood your chicks for 6 weeks or longer? Shorter? Depends on weather? My outdoor brooder has a screen top and only a single 25w bulb for heat. If it’s very cold I put feed sacks over the screen to retain warmth. The big chicks are 6wks tomorrow, but the honas are a bit younger and not fully feathered yet. I can work on integrating the coop littles with the flock. I should make a pop door that they can fit through to get away from meanie adults.

I have decided. Hubs moved the coop down to the back end of the property...I’m gonna need a shed back there for chicken stuff. This back and forth up and down the hill with garbage bin, shavings, implements of coop cleaning...really not nice! Especially when it’s toasty toasty.

Gave the peeps a tiny sample of scratch. Wyanrock and the little lorp are the brave ones. Buffy was curious too. She’s getting braver Hobbitses and Mystery Chick held back (Though one of the hobbitses was curious)

Depends on weather. They’ll be brooder bound until I can get that run reinforced and a coop built in it. I can’t see flock integration going too well yet...some of my girls (yes nugget I’m talking about you!!) are jerks.
