?? Composting toilets ? cant imagine the smell but Im all for conservation.

Compost doesn't smell much if it's managed and the nitrogen balanced properly so the components break down. It would certainly smell better than a water treatment plant!

My grass is very green where the septic is but I wouldnt want my fruit trees growing there. I have always heard human/dog/cat poop is terrible for eatables.

I think if you washed the produce you should be safe.
