Granny's gone and done it again

Can you afford to take him to a better vet ? Wishing is researching it for you so you will know which med is better but I imagine there are different strains of cocci ? And is the med expired ?
Granny, chances are the med will work fine. Even if its expired, i bet it will do the job.

Not certain where I lost all my other quotes too, but @granny hatchet I'm so sorry about your chicks today. Sending big hugs, try not to beat up on yourself, accidents happen & we all know you care about your birds :hugs
Camp, Wishing, Alley, my head is killing me just try to read this stuff, let alone trying to calculate the correct dosing. What I want to know is why the h3ll can't these medicine company's make these drugs for the other animals that are using them off label. Just make the meds, give easy dosing instructions (Sorry Star, last time I checked we lived in the US & we don't use the metric system. So why are our medication dosages & directions given in metrics) :he & then leave it up to the individual to determine if they want to administer to their animal. Sorry if I offend, this metric stuff really grinds my gears.

Ready? It’s actually really easy.

1 whole table is 800mg Sulfamethoxazole and 160mg trimethoprim.

1/4 a tab is 200mg/40mg

So you get 1/4 tab and make a fine power and mix it with 5ml water.

THEN you give 1/4cc for a 12.5lb goat.
How does it dissolve in the water ? Hot water ?

And that gives a 10mg dose :thumbsup

Will that work for coccidia
It's supposed to, but questionable.

May not matter much longer. He won’t take a bottle, feels very weak (no resistance like a kitten) and is extremely unsteady. He looks bad.

Neighbor took a fecal to the vet I did. Vet prescribed albon just like for me.
Oh. I hope he pulls through.

No iv. His belly is fat with water he’s drinking.
Take the water away while you are treating. They only get access to water AFTER they take the bottle.

Only think I got done was chickens and I managed to kill 5 of them and one more iffy.
I fed and watered the mama and babies yesterday and when I went out today they were all screaming bloody murder. I had forgot to put the water back in the cage. So I grabbed it and stuck it in there and they all went flying for it so I went on to do my chores. I sat down to take a break and heard mama make a weird noise. I would describe it as a short scream. I thought how odd, never heard that one before. I went to look and dead and dying babies all over the place. They had a clear liquid but very thick coming from the mouth and nose. seizures then dead. 3 were gone, watched 2 go and last one is lost balance, arching its back, on its side. Mama was fine but you could see the confusion. Broke my heart. I took her to gen.pop. and brought the last baby in. He was gasping and I tried to put him under the heat but he would just seize and gasp then go to his side. So here I sit One lonely chick in my lap.
I was sitting the dead babies on top of the cage and Binks grabbed one. I grabbed it and we played tug-o-war til I felt skin rip and I let go. I hope whatever this was dont hurt him but he was growling at me and I didnt want to get scratched up or bit so He ate 4 of them.

SO very sorry Granny :hugs wonder what caused it

Technically I’m a veterinary technician. I can do X-rays, dentals, surgery prep and assistance, and all kinds of other stuff. Made it through school and did my clinic hours and then some. Seen too many heartbreaking things. I couldn’t deal. Don’t get me wrong, I loved working in the clinic. It’s just hard not to lose your heart and hope there. And I absolutely hated Friday’s when I worked there.
Sorry hun, your young yet, maybe you will want to go back someday. If not, that's ok too. You just seem like such a natural. Tell you a secret, only work until Thursday, no more dreaded Friday's :gig

B12 injections stimulate their appetite. Is he warm enough?
