Granny's gone and done it again

Teacher said “she tried to give me lip about clipping down.”

I said “that’s because in our family the person in trouble has a right to justify or explain their actions, or clarify a misunderstanding.”

Ugh. She texted me and I’m just sitting here getting more angry and forcing myself to avoid responding.

Teacher is texting you because she knows she's in hot water and trying to prevent you from going in and complaining about her.
Even more than the trip, the fact that DD is worried about getting yelled at just for asking for a form is not okay. Belittling students is another form of abuse. She is too rigid. Sounds like a wacko.

Clipping down involves cards or clothes pins. Can also be “pulling” or “flipping” a card. Student typically starts on green and gets a warning for the first offense, then goes to yellow and a repeat offense goes to red, which is usually a call home or a note.

BTW what the heck is "clipping down"?
Hi Bruce. It's a discipline technique, kind of like getting your name on the board, but instead the student has to go up and move a clip under their name down the chart to make their shame public. If it was a technique that was any good, she wouldn't need to be using it this far along in the school year.

:thHow draconian.

She doesn’t have a leg to stand on. She said DD said it twice, DD said once. I said “what was the context?” And she said “I don’t know, there were kids everywhere and I can’t keep track of their conversations but I know their voices.” So she overheard it happen, did not witness, and did not address it in the moment.

Teacher said she warned DD, “that’s not uplifting behavior, that’s a word we don’t say, don’t to that.” DD said there was no warning, teacher only said “you’re probably going to have to clip down.” DD also said there is no posted list.

DH said he’s going to start with “show me right now in your class that list of words we don’t say.”
