Granny's gone and done it again

Hi Star, good morning! Did you rest well last night?
Not enough! The tea will be strong when I get to work today haha.

I’ll have to take pics of the lantana I planted. I’m planning on doing like a hedge thing of it along the neighbor with the dog’s fence. Im hoping we can do an out of sight out of mind thing. They’re little bitty now though....I may have to also do a secondary fence to keep the chickens out of it while they establish....but for now they’re on the other side of the BIG SCARY TRENCH so I think we’re ok.

(Funny story with the lantana. So hubs bought a toolbox at Home Depot. We asked for some help loading it into the truck. He grabs truck and pulls it up by the garden center. While waiting for assistance/forklift I notice these gorgeous lantanas calling my name.

I had to.

It was meant to be.

No just a couple. It’s been a 4 months. It will be interesting to see what happens to the new chicks
I am keeping my new chicks away from the rest of the flock. My flock free ranges, but only in the chicken yard which is fenced. I figure its safe to sell new hatch chicks as i wash my eggs before hatching. And i don't handle my adult chickens unless necessary. My new Sussex youngsters are way down by my garden in a chicken tractor. Currently all the adults seem healthy.
This morning i woke up and the little quail were yelling! Somehow the light bulb got unscrewed a bit and went out. But they all survived. Not sure how long it was out.

It doesn’t seem like you can make any money on chicks or chickens around here. I am happy to be done with them. When read about mareks it seems like it can be anywhere. No way to quarantine for it. Why spend mone6 for good birds if they are just going to die. May try another poultry one day.

You had a necropsy to confirm, didn't you?
Were the new chicks vaccinated?
Your other chickens that were exposed are likely to have shortened lives from the tumors that come with Mareks, and they will be shedding virus too.

I'm glad you caught that in time. :jumpy

Hi all, I got a few hrs sleep. I got up and found Tom sitting in his chair and I walked/led him to his bed. He stayed in the same position I put him in. Thats more scary then not sleeping. I have a call in to his Dr.
Hospital is a joke. The reason we were waiting so long was because (from his own mouth) dr. was researching possible causes.
Heard someone at the front desk tell Toms nurse, " I dont know what she is complaining about".
I pulled a rocking chair in the room and lady walks in and said," I didnt know we had a rocking chair, did you get that from here or..?" I said, Nope, brought it from home. That got a giggle from Tom and he said,"Heres your sign".
Vascular drs office called today wanting to make appt. I was confused . we had already been. It was that surgeon. He said, we just got the referral thursday and are closed on fridays so we need to set up an appt. I said No, you got the referral last tuesday, your just now getting around to doing your job while my DH has already been there and seen your Dr. Get your story straight.

That's the problem in these big practices, no one knows what is going on or who the patients are and they don't care to find out. I wish they could help Tom, he seems to have so many issues. How old is he now?
