I’ve got more silkies due this weekend. I have realized my big bator has high humidity (between 47-64%!) and slight temp problems (power goes out and it changes temp setting on the thermostat). So these may be delayed a day or 3.

I got the frame for the quail cage made, wood cut for the back and one side, and the door cut, assembled, and painted. Hope to finish it tomorrow.
Today i also worked on the door frame for the lean-to. I have one board i need to take off and redo, then hopefully i can paint the door and hang it. Need to put hardware cloth or something over the mesh, that is not going to keep anything out. Then i get to put boards up to attach wire to, going with welded wire. I will have to do a hardware cloth skirt to keep varmints from digging. I have been wanting to do this for a while.
Ordered some lumber today. Some of it will be for the turkey hoop coop.
If you attach the tarps with bungee cords, they flex so they don't rip. The only problem i have is a couple of the tarps have some holes chewed in them near the bottom by critters. It gets pretty windy here at times.I really like the idea of the hoop coops BUT with the "gentle breezes" we get at the farm I am afraid it would be shredded "right quick"
Hubby tried to go fishing today, but the dog kept wanting to fetch the lure and the fishing pole, jumping in the water and barking! So he gave up and said next time the dog stays in the house.

I saw a deer cross our dirt road in front of the car today on the way to meet the guy who bought keets. Then i saw 2 more deer and a fawn on the way back. Mama crossed the road, must have given baby a signal to stop, because the fawn stopped dead and laid down in the tall grass on the side of the road.
That thread i started has my whole hoop coop build from last year. Helpful hints for building chicken coops.will have to check into it some more then.
