Granny's gone and done it again

Guinea pigs are the best. I keep thinking about where I can put a cage out here. *shifty eyes* I do miss having them.
Did you know that guinea pigs can live outdoors in winter? I was amazed when we discovered our neighbors down the road had a whole colony of them outside in NS in the winter! They had no idea how to sex them, and they just kept breeding. We helped them rehome a whole bunch of them.

The bigger the tank the less often it needs cleaned too.
Mom used to tell me guppys were born pregnant. The thing is if you find females and they have been in a tank w/ a male they are more then likely pregnant and dont matter how pretty a male is you buy. Your getting babys from that first male and more then one time.

So can parakeets if you start them in late spring. I miss my birds.

Hamsters are mean. :( And they keep you awake at night. Guinea pigs are way better. weep weep weeeep!
Naw, i can tame any hamster. I had one that was terrified when i got him and actually made a noise about it. He was an albino Teddy bear, i think he probably couldn't see too well. Anyway, he became quite calm and friendly after a while.

Are all guppies the same species? Some look very much like Betta fish to me.

This is what I think of as a guppy.

And this one is a fancy guppy (Poecilia reticulata) which looks like a Betta. Are these the same species? Can they interbreed? (if one was female! :D)
