The past few days have been an exercise in trust. Trusting my gut, that is. That little voice keeps telling me I am being lied to, being taken for a ride, being used. But I thought I was being a better person, giving the individual a fair chance... well, I owe my gut an apology. Little voice was right.
The Legbars have secret nests hidden in the yard. I rarely find them, and figure critters get the eggs at night. I've asked Scooter if he knows where they hide eggs. He gives me his "Oh no, I would show you if I knew" innocent look, but I have wondered... Went out to change the water late last night, and he took off to another part of the yard (usually sticks close by). Got the flashlight and whistled to him. He ran up to me and into the flashlight beam... and then I saw it. Egg yolk stuck all around his mouth. He lied. He's been doing this for 2 months! My gut knew it... so much smarter than my brain.
Someone is squawking out there right now. Egg hunt time. I will follow Scooter.

Arsonist set fire to the hill below my MIL's neighborhood about 10 yrs ago. The police were actively trying to find him at the time. Fire raced uphill through all the tall dry grass and shrubs. I think some out buildings caught fire, and then some embers blew up under the eaves on MIL's house and her attic caught fire! She was in the house at the time and didn't even know anything was going on. Her husband was frantically trying to get to her. Finally the firefighters banged on her door (which gave her quite a scare), got her to safety, and put out the fire before too much damage was done.
Arsonist was caught and determined to be bat-poop crazy. Like there was any doubt?

If you have a crazy down your way, I hope they catch him quick. (Not to be sexist... never heard of a female arsonist, but they probably exist. Equal opportunity craziness. )


Fleur is awesome. Starting her own Uber service AND getting her back scratched at the same time.

And maybe getting some bugs ate off her.
