Outside of child rearing years, my grandmother always had a job, so they had 2 incomes and were very careful with their money. That's from living through the great depression. I think having pets was a treat to themselves.

Very considerate of him. I wouldn't have thought of that. If it is crunching underneath, I doubt it would pass a safety inspection anyway. Maybe you can sell it to the junk yard or if you have them one of the suggested "you pull" places (never heard of those before) and keep the tire and battery to sell separately?
