I just can’t see any way to make a profit selling poultry. Esp if you factor in the time I spend. I am just keeping what I need for eggs and enjoyment. And when I can’t get anything to eat besides my chickens.

The only way to even try to make a profit is to sell chicks as soon as you hatch them , and sell a lot. Having rare breeds helps as you can sell chicks for more. I expect to get $10 a chick for the Tolbunts.

Guess I'll find out how badly the new tax law has screwed me. I don't fit in the "rich and powerful" or "business" categories that the law benefited.

Thank gosh the mortgage interest write off still exists.
Hubby was saying the chickens' slop smelled awfully good. Just a bunch of leftovers, pizza crust, chopped spaghetti, pasta, chopped ham, carrot peels, veggies, rice. I carry it out to the girls hot off the stove in this bowl i made.
Looks like food!! Could have skipped making dinner for DH today and fed him that.
He does most of the cooking anyway. We do have left over beef stew i made yesterday.
Hey y'all we've got a broody hen that gonna have little ones!
