Granny's gone and done it again

Not sure. One was caught under the waterer that had been in place since before they hatched. and most were just found dead. When I put the chick in with them they stopped dying. the last one the feeder was knocked onto it by a cat and crushed it to death
They are accident prone, i had an adult get trapped in a corner behind the waterer, upside down with its head in the water. It drowned!

I feel like such a horrible chicken mom right now. All I’m hoping is that it was the mites making her feel like crap and she’ll start improving. I’m worried. She’s bad.

We lost her. :(

So sorry. :hugs I had a few with such bad lice that their white feathers had turned pink from the blood on them. I had posted in the emergency thread and was so embarrassed that I immediately took it down. Mine managed to survive, but they were tough old ex bat hens. And I went straight for the nukes and used sevin dust.

You’re not a bad chicken mom. :hugs

It’s 37, feels like 31, and the ducks are nowhere near the heat.

Well. We got rain coming again but I think after this band passes we’ll dust the flock. Gosh. We’re down to...not many. Seven? Bucky, a Maran, a rock/maran, two reds, Sam, Buffy....

And everyone except Buffy and Bucky are almost four years old.

Kind of cursed with tractor supply. Predator or other issues, I seem to only be able to keep one out of every batch(Buffy was my lone survivor from my spring chicks, I lost four to hopping the fence and one to hawks, and from the fall chicks I lost bbc to being a jerk, crazy white chicken to raptors and now hedwig to this. :/

Yes, horrible.
Don’t feel bad about the chicken having bugs. I think everyone that has chickens goes through this. It is just part of chicken husbandry. Too bad you don’t live close enough to drop off the body any where. It is helpful to know why they died.

I could have shipped her off but...I do not have room in the fridge before I could get her sent off. Someone on the emergency thread is suggesting mereks. If it was...I’m sure I’ll see evidence of it with the other cluckers soon.
