Nugget did fine in the heat yes, but shipping chicks in trucks across country at 100 degree days (or potential thereof) may be....bad.

They don't truck, they fly (in airplanes, chickens don't fly well, day old chicks even worse).

There are no RKs outside the midwest except for a few in the south. Closest 1 to me is 400 miles away in PA.

LOL no. I don’t do anything and they’re just a prolific nuisance. They just really love the acidic soil from the pines. That’s just the one by the house, we have acres and acres of them.

Well then I guess I’ll do white leghorn and Andalusian for my white layers. I know...still smaller than my big birds but...

brown leghorns lay white too and less likely to be picked off by a predator.

We have Rural King, but i guess Virginia is considered southern. After living in FL, it seems northern to me.

If I remember right she was going to chop that one down. Or maybe severly trim it a couple yrs back. I have one that is about 6in. tall and never bloomed or grew since it was planted 9 yrs ago.
