Blue skies and bright sun today! Haven't seen that in a while. Big grocery shopping day. I've been a hermit and haven't been in over a week... supplies are dwindling!
I have 3 Orpintons, and all 3 went broody on the same day last week. Peach, the hatchery buff, gave up after one day. Amazing that she still lays the occasional egg at 7 yrs old. Jubilee project orp, Figgy, lasted 2 days and quit after I took away her egg for the second time. Buster Posey, the aptly named cuckoo orp, is still determined. She is sitting in a corner on the floor of the coop, no eggs except for for the rare day someone sits and lays next to her. She's starting to lose weight already too. I hope the sun will draw her out today. Most times I've found mites

in the coop, they've started with a broody hen. Maybe I'll take Buster for a car ride. That might get her out of the broody trance!
