Granny's gone and done it again

I want to try again w/ a betta but I want to do it right. It will be mine this time so no extra fish and the right things it needs which is a planted tank w/heat . They sell tons of drift wood at the flea market but I dont know what I am looking at. Is it real drift wood or will any wood work? I do know that roots are way cooler looking then stems . And I know you can take moss from a rock and grow it under water. You can use the gel super glue in the tanks to hold plants to the wood and they are all using kaltoba(sp) leaves for the tannin in the water and I have that tree.

I talked to a farmer at SS today. asked him about the tomatoes. He said we still had time for good ones if the rain will stop. He planted 130 and said they havent even set on yet. So its going to be a while and I know I said I want to can some this yr but I remembered I gave all my canning jars away. Oh well.
