Granny's gone and done it again

I have a murderer in the silkie coop. I've had 5 newly hatched chicks killed in the last 2 days. Still wet. and tonight at lock up there was a broken egg outside with a wing hanging out. It's in the incubator but it doesn't look good.

Sorry Alley, life as a bird is dangerous.

Morning. I had one of those in the serama coop. Sometimes the broody is so protective of their eggs they will kill anything that moves around them. Im not saying thats what it is ,just what I have noticed .

I checked and had 3 new Celadon coturnix, one was smushed by the turner. I only put the turner on during the day. Anyway, I am going to rig it up so hopefully no more crush injuries.

Are they walking into it ? W/chickens the turner should be turned off last 3 days.

No, it is a Brinea octagon and the whole thing tilts. The tray of eggs actually slides back and forth and can smush a baby. So I have to fix it so the tray doesn't slide. I don't want to turn the turner off because there are eggs in many stages of development.
