Granny's gone and done it again

Well, I came in after a couple hours and was way behind!!! You guys are busy in the evenings!!! I'll do better tomorrow night.
Hi Valerie. Getting behind can happen quickly here! No problem to just jump in.
Think I'm going to sign off. If I don't get a good night's sleep soon, I'm going to go crazy. Already got twitchy-eye today.

Goodnight everyone!

I have a itchy dog question. Scooter has been scratching at his eyes and face for several weeks, sometimes his ears too, on the outside. He's losing the hair around his eyes and sometimes the skin gets pink and thickened. I treated him for fleas, but there never was any sign he ever had them. I have washed his face and eyes. Can't see any signs of anything wrong with the skin on his face or head. His ears look clean. It's getting really obsessive. Any ideas?
Hmmm allergy? Maybe change his food.

Not necessarily. After reading what you said, I could be taking it the wrong way. For me, moving is traumatic. I like being in my nice safe predictable rut.

Oh, you're an enabler! I don't think goats should live alone, so I'd have to get at least two, and when they're so small, why not more? It could get ugly.

I had a little serama roo that was so attentive to his hens that he wouldn't even take a break to dust bathe and was the very last to eat. I found he got mites when the others didn't and had to treat him. I always made sure he ate something every day.
Ugly? It'd get cute! 🤣😂🤣

That is exactly what is happening with Gemini. The man vet (I dont like him, cause I've caught several mess ups) said she had demodex mange. Didn't do a skin scrape but put her on meds. She's had 3 doses since last month and she is no better. So I have to call the vet again.

Yeah, well we know where your mind is all the time.

In the gutter with granny! :lau

I'm more worried about Ming and Henry. They rub on him all the time. :hmm

Guess I should call the vet. I can just hear Scooter crying like the baby he is when they go to do the skin scraping.
Hmm 🤔 I have a microscope... maybe i can look...
Demodex mange isn't contagious but sarcoptic mange is zoonotic.

Yeah, she's too savvy for that! :D

Have your beasts ever had mange? I've never seen it, but I'll tell you, I've been worried about it. Where could he have got it? He's home all the time.
Demodectic mites cause mange. I think they are around all the time, but stress or illness can make a dog react to them. A vet can do a skin scraping.

Greensboro? As in where they have the Greensboro Book Fair? I miss that!!!!!
Who cares? We can celebrate our birthdays when we want to, right?

Greensboro, NC

please forgive me but are you sad at leaving the farm or leaving the family to finish up? My brain is tired.

All of the above.

I'm hesitant to use any new med stuff on him since he's taking the seizure medication. Feel like I need a professional. I thought the treatment for mange was pretty intense.
My friend also suggested some sort of new allergy and maybe try some Benadryl. I still haven't looked up any interactions with the pheno, but I bet it will knock him out with both. :hmm At least then he won't be scratching!

What is on the agenda for tomorrow?

My friend had a compulsively itchy pup. Vet said Benadryl just to break the cycle. It gets to be a habit, like chewing fingernails. Jewel scratches a lot when she’s unsettled. Both are currently licking everything and that I can’t stand. They lick their beds and sneak onto the sofa overnight and lick the cushions until they’re sopping wet.

surgeons visit . There are different things to use like motor oil and kerosene. I heard that burns like hell. I wouldnt do benadrly w/o dr . how about just some anti itch cream?

Treatment is fairly easy these days. I’ve had fosters with mange, they recovered quickly with frequent dips.
