Granny's gone and done it again

I might tic a few peeps off but I am gonna say Star, If you dont feel up to this its ok to cull her you know. Its not a deadly sin. Even if she is gonna heal. Its a lot of work and cash for a chicken. People do it every day and IMO better then some that wont treat or cull and let it happen natural.
It’s just....my gut is telling me it’s deeper than just her foot. She’s down to four pounds. For a Brahma. Hasn’t laid in a while (obviously). Her poop is...not poop. She’s incredibly klutzy and unstable.
I have a hard time trying to get her to eat protein. I feel like if I could get her to eat more protein she’d have more a fighting chance - but I’m not about to start force feeding her...

Have you ever wormed them ? Wishing I THINK said yall dont have problems w/ worms . Or maybe that was Twist. IDK But the mites are very serious. More then the foot. They can kill faster.
Never wormed no. Mites I’m poofing her pretty much daily and ruffling out her feathers to get them out.
Brahma hens they say should be around ten lbs but she is hatchery stock, I don’t think she’d be that. I’d say 7-8 lbs.

Its snowing and I have been asleep for hrs. about 4 I think.
Cap, I found your shopping partner. We went for chinese food and I stuffed my face then goodwill and she looked at every single thing in there. I was going slow and looking too because she was sticking w/me but I finally gave up and hunted a bench . I was done. she had to bring me home. Im a lightweight now I guess but it was so very cold and it started snowing.
While in goodwill this happened. Some man that immediately gave me a bad vibe was sliding up behind Nancy. He had rings on every finger and long dirty nails and he was 3 inches from her . She had no idea he was even there but it scared me and mama bear kicked in. Nancy must of thought I lost my mind . Unaware of what was going on behind her. He reached his arm up and I dont know what he intended but I didnt give him a chance. I pushed my lil fat body right inbetween the 2 of them and looking/facing him I said Back off. He did and left the store quickly . Before Nancy could even figure out why I was pushing her and we were rubbing butts LOL I told her why . I dont think she realized the danger. He was long gone.
Maybe a purse snatcher? I think you were a hero!

ah but you see I was one of the "chosen ones" the last time with a visit from a census bureau employee for 6 months AND I have a motel that rents long term and they want them counted as well.
Oh yeah, I didn't think about long term renters. I guess someone has to come and get those people counted. What a huge job the census is. I remember they were advertising for workers last year. No thanks. Too many jerks out there and so many homeless around here to track down in RVs and campers and tarp tents... what a job.

Sigh. Kinda at wit’s end with fluffy.
Not seeing much improvement. She’s breathing hard, lost so much weight. I dunno. At what point do I throw in the towel? Is there hope?
She still eats watermelon. She still drinks. Protein is a bit harder though. I think I need to stop by the pet store for some feeder worms or crickets though. She seems to be ok eating live bugs (she had a spider and a housefly tonight) but turns up her beak at other forms of protein.
If she is eating anything and pooping then her plumbing is working and she has a chance. Don't worry too much about the protein. She flat out needs calories no matter the type. Maybe try some bread? It's got too much salt, but a little won't matter. She needs to be warm. Get a heat light. Heating pad can burn them.

Possible organ damage from the blood loss in addition to infection. Hard to say which came first. Hard to know if permanent damage was done or if there is an additional underlying problem. If you are not seeing any improvement... maybe it's time. If you want to keep trying... rest, warmth, food and probiotics.
This this the part of chicken keeping I don't like. :(
