Camping, During the last year I was in the military, I would at times just site at my desk and start crying.. It was depression from a series of events that caused PTSD. I went to an outside doc and the first thing he did was give me xanax to help. I week of that and I flushed it. I decided to deal with what was bothering me instead. I filed an EEO complaint against my supervisor for not only harrassment but discrimination. That went south on both parts. Officers can do no wrong.. So I left the military. Started reading the bible to get my head back on straight.. That took 9 years of hard work, and I still had problems with supervisors so it was hard keeping a job. Lost the farm, the animals, and sent my daughter to live with her dad. That was the beginning of the end of that relationship. Life has not been rosy for me either. The best thing you can do is start writing down what's bothering you and present the list to the One and Only One that can actually help you with what you are dealing with. Drug don't get to the underlying issues that are causing the problems, they only mask the symptoms. Take it from one who has experienced it.She said it’s fast acting and take it as needed in the day or night. So sometimes I’ll be sitting on the sofa perfectly fine, then all of a sudden I can hear every noise in the house and it’s all too loud. And the kids are all over me, and I can’t breathe, and I want to climb out of my skin and live in a dark hole. I used to say I was about to walk into the woods and never come back. She said that’s when I would take it, and I can do a whole one or just break off a piece.
She also said I can set an alarm to take it in the morning if I’m struggling to get out of bed, and it will get my day started the way I want instead of just hiding and avoiding everything.
My friend the icu nurse has been encouraging me to try an anxiety med for years, and was more insistent during my move. I just finally feel like this is the right time. The NP also said this is just a starting point, and the next step could be counseling. She really takes a mind/body approach to health that I really appreciate.
