The feeder roots extend out to the drip edge. Of course that would be if they were only rain watered. I guess they could stay close to the stem if that is where the water always "falls". I think that is how cabbage and broccoli plants work since their leaves funnel the rain to the center of the plant. They seem to be mostly tap root, not a lot of spread of the feeders.But we use drip irrigation so it doesn’t apply?
