We have had it better than most of folks. Fog bank at the coast has come back big time, so we will cool down for a couple of days. It all helps.

Can you pinch the tubing somehow? (vice grips? clothes pin?). Is tubing even involved?

possible problem with pinching the tubing, would be increase pressure on the pump which will cause it to work harder and possible kill the pump or in extreme case start a fire.
