Granny's gone and done it again

Some folks use wax, I have heard of duct tape being used too.
That's what I used, candle wax. I usually keep candles on hand and after I got over the shock and dismay of what happened, I grabbed the candles, lit them up and started spackling. It worked beautifully on these two and in all honesty, I wasn't expecting one of them to live to hatch as there were patches of egg gone, exposing the tough outer membrane. Luckily my hen's eggs seem to have tougher than usual outer membranes.

I'm a believer in Candle Wax now.

King snake? It looks like what we call black snakes here.

I've handled snakes before, usually little garter snakes that I find in the yard and want to save from the lawnmower. They are all attitude when they are only 6 inches long.
The King snakes have mostly white bellies. In FL we saw black racers, they always try to bite.

It's only the flour . I'm just learning here but getting very interested. Trying to make a starter from this spelt flour.
My youngest ordered sourdough starter and some other needed items last year. First year at college, living in the dorms... and makes this!

Singing REALLY LOUD to your favorite songs... endorphin city!

Just popping in to say Hi to everyone. Been having issues that last couple times I've been over here and BYH.
Hi Alley! Sounds like you have a serious case of the maths... chicken math, bunny math, goat math, geese and pigs and...
You have quite the menagerie!
Have missed hearing your updates. Hope you can visit more often!

mornings, Dr not in today and maybe not tomorrow. Half my babies sucked up in the filter. I cant find a sponge filter. I am going to try and baby proof this one AGAIN. They literally got sucked up into a stocking. Need to figure out how to slow the flow.
Did you rescue any babies?

My iron is low !! Yaaa...
You got the blood test results...
I figured you were deficient in something... all those cravings.

Thank you! They are the future of my flock. Having fought Marek's disease for for over 3 years, I decided last year to introduce Egyptian Fayoumis into my flock as they are naturally resistant to Marek's disease. Hopeful that they will cross with my resistant Amish barnyard mixes and I'll get more resistant birds from the union.
I hope it works! If you could breed for resistance, I bet you would have a lot of people interested in your birds and hatching eggs.

We used to have blue racers in IL. Nasty tempered things.

Here is the Black Snake or Black Rat Snake or Rat Snake that we have here.

They like to stick their tails up and shake them like a rattle snake does only they don't have any rattles, naturally.

I uncovered a young one a couple years ago in some brush behind the house. Up went that tail and it was shaking it for all it was worth.I just laughed and told it that it was going to have to do better than that to intimidate me. Little guy was only about a foot long.

My brother had a blue racer actually chase him out of a pasture once.
