Interrupted by fire, we wondered if they will continue their build.

We didn't see the worst part of this neighborhood. Some roads were closed too.

Some people got lucky. Fire crews saved as many homes as they could.

Why can't they go out and stomp in the rain puddles?

Make some quick bean bags (or rice or whatever you have) and play corn hole with cooking pots.
That might be good for 10 minutes or so!

They did go out with me for a while , 2 of them anyway. With me while I was cleaning the coop. Their Dad took them out for a bit in the rain too.
