Ex pen is good because it is a smaller area. After a few weeks they will tell you when they need to go out.

Crate at night. Don't let out in morning till dog vocalizes, even if it is some small noise, a huff or a whimper. Talk to him while you let him out, emphasizing the word OUT. That way you're teaching him to ask.

Whow! We must be doing something right cause our young cattle dogs are almost 2 and still training and responding to us.

We have a couple who like to 'pogo' in front of us and almost knock us down. One likes to run and jump in our arms. Thank goodness they are small red heelers.

I'm going to try that walk towards them till they sit down.

that works expecially w/ a treat in your hand shoving it in their nose forcing them back.

I ended up not able to sleep until 5 am this morning. So, I napped off and on all day. Day was pretty good except for one thing. Freaking quail scalped one of their hatchmates because she was the only white one. Had to make a pen for her, so that she can heal. Poor baby.
