Granny's gone and done it again

Hi, Chick, thanks for the encouragement. Good news, does not seem to be DDD! :celebrate Ortho wants to refer me to a neurologist though, to find out what's causing the issue w the arm. He says he sees no big cause of the numbness/ tingling but "lots of little issues" that could be causing it. But he "doesn't do necks," he says. Oh, and I can take the shoulder off light duty and put it back to work! Home-baked bread, here I come! :wee

Great news!

Good morning! Why does everyone seem to keep losing power?!
Because California lol
It seems the same way for me, Verna. It's mostly because I'm over here in MO and some of out other active members are in CA. When I come on I think they are doing evening chores and eating dinner.
Luckily I’m used to all the time zones. Parents/fam is eastern. I’m pacific. Yay.
Partly because their utility companies are cutting them off to prevent wildfires.
Yep
They need to bury the power lines if it's that bad.
They do but it’s a vicious cycle. They’re held liable and have to pay out for damages from past wildfires, which means their slush fund runs dry. It’s a big endeavor and costly.
Well, y'all can correct me if I am wrong but that is what I heard on the news. Because of the high winds. There is fear that trees or branches falling can knock down a power line and start a fire.
Exactly this.
Normally I think the fire season ends in October because they get rain. This is December. The last couple of years have been unprecedented. If they could have anticipated or expected this, they might have prepared for it long ago, but this has taken everyone by surprise due to climate change. I don't even know if it will be possible to install underground utilities now, bc they are just fighting fires year round now. And deforestation causes massive mud slides when it does rain. Plus we are talking about California, where quakes and tremors are a fact of life. Underground utilities just may not be feasible.
Yep. Calfire has year round fire season now. We’ve gotten one good rain that’s it. There’s also a lot of wide empty space in California, different geological considerations (rock/types of rock/sand/desert/mountains/etc)

There is no easy answer.

Howdy all,
Blue, great news ! I would not go real fast with that bread. Something caused that pain and because they didnt find it dont mean its not still there.
I'll be real careful and let the KitchenAid mixer do most the work, 'kay? Gots ta have good bread!

Yikes, I used to live in California. It has changed so much.

No big issues is indeed good news!

Everything has changed. When I grew up in Denver, we used to drive an hour or more past fields and farms to get to the mountains. Same with heading east, toward Kansas. Last time I was there, it was wall to wall city all the way up to and into the mountains. It's city as far as the eye can see now, probably even out to the airport, which used to be in the middle of nowhere. There isn't any nowhere any more. 🙁
