Granny's gone and done it again

I always tell the doctor that before all is said and done I'll be out in the back yard grazing on grass and twigs.

I figure cutting back without eliminating is the way to go. There are foods that I can't eat because of my IBS and absence of a gall bladder (fie on the doctors who say if you have your gall bladder removed you can eat whatever you want). I don't eat much red meat and when I do it's ultra lean so it's tough as old shoe leather and no fun to eat, eat plenty of poultry and fish and eat meatless one day a week. If I want a cookie by golly I'm eating a cookie.

How you feeling these days Cap?
Don’t go by what medical Drs say. Do your own research. Drs get virtual no nutritional classes. Why do you think our population is so sick. We have gotten so far away from real food.

Right, like I keep eliminating food that's not good for me. Pretty soon not much left but salad...
Yes, I think with me it was an addiction. I gave up alcohol and turned to sugar. Everyone is different. I can’t just eat one cookie. Lol

not sure candy can actually "go bad" UNLESS its sent to a maximum security prison. :D
Fudge can mold. I know bc I sent some to my boys (grandsons) in another state a couple of years ago and it got badly misdirected and eventually returned to me, WEEKS later. :sick This was not USPS, it was UPS, sort of.

Really. I don’t miss it much. At holidays I do then I buy some snacks to have around. Not to feel joint pain and inflammation is worth it. They have recipes for almost everything now. Fathead pizza dough, bacon, eggs, steak, hamburger. What I love is I don’t obsess about what I am going to eat next. Never hungry, never crave anything. It is all a trade off. It would be much harder if I had all the junk laying around. Lately with all the stress I really want to crunch. I am even finding the fasting easy now. I have more energy. I have had chronic fatigue and joint and muscle pain my whole life.
I'm going to have to try to cut back more on the sugars. I'm good about giving myself a stop date and sticking to it. I did that when I went on my diet two years ago and dropped 30 pounds fast by eliminating junk food and things like bread.

Perhaps I'll set a date between Christmas and New Years and that will be my 'cut back date'. I don't use sugar in things like Tea or Coffee but I do use Stevia and sweet n low. I know they can impact your blood sugars but I consider them to be the lesser of the evils. No problem giving up candy. Already done that. Cookies will be tough. I'll probably scale back and allow myself a day when I 'indulge' within reason. Not going to eat a half gallon of ice cream or anything of the sort but allow myself a couple of cookies or whatever and see if it impacts my joint pain any.

As bad as my DDD is, anything that helps reduce the inflammation is a blessing as far as I'm concerned.

And on a bright spot. I already found a couple of cookie recipes calling for apple sauce for sweetening instead of sugar. I have about 2/3rds of a bushel of apples in our shop right now. Guess I gots to make me some applesauce.
