The crab we get in CA is delicious. Slightly sweet and delicate flavor. I don't like to waste it by making it into crab cakes. Dungeness crab.

Yes, but nerves usually hurt because there is swelling or some injury that pushes on it. Keeping it immobile will give it a chance to heal and keep it from being reinjured simply because you won't try to use it with the brace on. Ice packs might help too.
PITA brace for a few weeks is better than sore hand for months. When can the dr see it?
