This is Cecile Brunner. I was impressed how many blooms she has this year. She smells nice too. Decided I better deep water if I want the blooms to stay. She's up by the pullet coop.

Then I noticed a couple of butterflies chasing each other around. This one would land on Cecile so I could get a good pic.

But there was a second butterfly zooming around. It was black that glinted blue in the sun, with some orange spots low on the wings and little white dots along the outer edge. Every time the black one flew over, the yellow one would chase after it and they'd go careening around the yard. Black one never landed, but I got an action shot of it!
I have to do some editing, so you can see it in the next post.

Here are the action shots. None of my videos came out well enough to post.

Just happened to catch the black one zooming by. You can see pretty good details in the enlargement.

The black one was chasing the yellow, it seemed. Maybe just lonely?

Yellow missing a bit of tail on one side.

And that was the highlight of my day!

I think thats a pretty good highlight Wishing. We have those black ones here. The yellow one seems different in the black markings but maybe I dont remember good.

They are both Swallowtails of some sort. I'll look them up better tonight on the computer.
Maybe it was a territorial dispute they were having, but butterflies are a rare sight anymore around here. Good to see them in action!
