They are escapism. I don't read them, but I can understand how some people enjoy stepping out of the real world for a while. I used to really enjoy the Star Treg:TNG series on TV. Patrick Stewart, *swooon*! Westerns, kind of the same thing. Don't get Granny started on Sam Elliott, lol!
