Potting table #1. Up at the far back by the well and the pullets' coop.

The old piece of plywood set up underneath keeps the water from splashing me. Need to put a drain under the sink, but I'm lazy. Plywood works fine. My kale cutting board is on the middle shelf... piece of nice walnut.

Potting table #2. Near the house and old coop. I moved it under the buckeye tree to try to give it the extra water. Didn't help this year. Leaves are all gone, brown and crunchy... you can see them on the shelf underneath. View attachment 2813929

I asked hubs for this one to be simpler... so I could move it around without help. Perfect for me.

I cleaned all the leaves out of the sink and brushed off the top.

Does it never freeze there? I see your well pressure tanks are out in the open.

That's a pressure tank for the well. We share with the uphill neighbor. Her tank is white, ours is blue. It's how the water gets uphill to her place.

Not often. Coldest I remember is 29. Not a lot frost either.
If we're expecting a hard freeze I cover all the exposed pipes at the well head with a packing blanket. Never bothered to cover the tank.
I would have a LOT to learn if I moved where it got cold!

Farm house had a hand dug, brick lined well, about 15 ft deep. We never used it. It's been bone dry for 25 yrs now.
I remember water witching for the guys who came to dig the new well! We had a lot of modernizing to do.

Mom used to do the water witching too. It dont work for everyone.

She would take 2 sticks and hold them loosely in her hands straight out in front of her and when they crossed each other that was where the water was. Was it like that for you?

As a boy we had no inside plumbing either. Had a 30 ft. well with a rope and bucket. I remember it had the coldest water, even on the hottest days.

I used that well for sponge bathing til I could slip off to the creek and have a real bath. Those were good times Pert. Funny thing was we had a toilet. LOL We would have to tote the well water to flush the toilet though.
