Granny's gone and done it again

Broodies may be cute, but you dont get to watch the eggs hatch and for me I had a bad experienve with a broody Cochin including a low hatch rate: 1 out of 5: and a hurt chick who ended up dieing.View attachment 2985398
Oh thats so sad! I can see why broodies can be worse. My incubator has higher hatch rates than my broody.

I have only hatched with a broody hen once though. I was visiting her chicks one day and I found one that wasn't opening it's eye. The eye was infected and she ended up losing her eye. I still don't know if she got pecked or what. She is now my sweet girl, Puffle.

Nope, I want the big house. they can have a couple small houses I guess.
Our neighbor is like that. She is a granny, in her 70s-80s. I couldn't believe it, since she has 4 horses and two dogs.

She lives up in the hills, while her caretaker has a separate house.

Sorry that happened. I have had broodies that hatch well but then don't know what to do with them.
