Just seeing this. Both of my dogs started to itch, often. Having a bad gut can cause itching, biting, licking. I did find that chicken was a no no for both. Stopped it, and started them both on a chewable pro biotic. They've settled down. If it keeps up with your dog, you may want to start a pro biotic. Read up on it.@CapricornFarm and @h2oratt:
My nervous and hyper little male Sheltie was gnawing/chewing on both his front knees/ankles last week and I couldn't see anything, partly bc he wasn't too cooperative about letting me examine him and partly bc I don't see well. Took him to the vet and they couldn't see anything either so I suspect maybe a tiny thorn broken off a "beggar's lice" seed pod. Vet wrote him a Rx for Prednisone and Trazadone to calm him down, which he's been on about 5 days now, bid on the Traz, down to 1x on the Pred. Today he is showing urinary incontinence so I stopped the Traz. Do you think that's what's causing it?
